instinct Residency Program
by Abel Burger
Black sheep, odd ducks, rejects, eccentrics, loners, lost and forgotten. Beautiful souls. This is about writing and painting a story, yours. How we can create and show, without filters, the diversity, the singularity and the richness of what we are, with an open mind, without judgment.
Abel Burger works on intimacy. This is about the meeting between an artist and you. This is about writing and painting a story, yours. How, in a short time, we can create intimacy and show, without filters, the diversity, the singularity and the richness of what we are, with an open mind, without judgment. What if the norm today was only about being ourselves, able to share honestly what defines us?
This is not about claiming, it’s about sharing, and communion.
Abel Burger is an artist in Residency by Instinct Berlin. Her project consists in a series
of interviews, portraits and poetries of people from the Berlin scene.
Abel burger is a French painter born in 1982. She has participated in the Parisian underground scene with the writing and reading of her texts on the issue of gender and identity and the production of videos.
During a stay at the Berlin Art Institute, she chose to devote her work to making portraits of individuals met on Tinder. The question of the intimate is the central axis of her work, which can be found as much in her drawings as in the spontaneous texts that accompany them.
Her meeting with Eric Le Rouge and the team of Instinct Berlin offers her the possibility of an artistic residency that allows her to engage with the community of the Village and more broadly Berlin, but which also serves as a laboratory for her creations.
